Question by Kowalski: Would you say that the following is a fair response to the Vatican's sex abuse scandal?

In early August of 2007, an Italian cardinal said, in response to the sex abuse scandal that the victims should be ashamed for trying to tarnish the reputation of the Catholic Church. Realizing that this was a colossal error in communication, the cardinal apologized and clarified what he really meant to say, that all the publicity and negative attention given to the sex abuse scandal was actually a thousand year-old Jewish-Masonic conspiracy to undermine the Church.

Does this make up for the cardinal's previous mistake?
